It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid.

There is EVERY need to be afraid.

Some time back in September I was with some friends merrily (ahem) shopping in Sainsbury's when I hit a metaphorical brick wall. I could see Christmas cakes, biscuits and puddings already neatly on display just screaming at passers by to make that big step and embrace the festive season. In September.

I am entirely for the festive season! I love it! The atmosphere, the TV, the excuse to buy awful presents that you normally-wouldn't-touch-with-a-bargepole-but-as-it's-Christmas-it's-now-acceptable, the traditions and of course the songs! But there is a line when it's acceptable to start flooding the public with Christmas propaganda and September is over that line. You'll always get somebody on the 25th of July who will helpfully point out 'oooh it's 6 months until Christmas!' This is the trigger, the tirgger for shops to start filling the shelves with Christmas related goodies, for chain stores to solidly advertise goods that they think may be amazing Christmas presents for friends and that you simply have to buy. As I write this (it is not September but indeed November) Boots have their campaign dubbed with 'Here come the girls' (SO last year guys) in which one collegue gives another a digital camera. On what planet does this happen? Unrealistic Boots. If the Tories come to power then they should pass a law banning all Christmas related advertisments until at least late November as I know I am not alone in thinking that by Christmas day I will be glad that the adverts can stop and the sales can being. Ooooh yeah!

What's worse is that none of these adverts, offers or promotions actually get across the message of Christmas. It's sad to think that there are some kids in Britain, America and all over the world who will go for several years of their lives not knowing what Christmas is actually about, not realising that it's not a time set aside for recieving presents and eating a lot but is the time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. What people seem to forget is that Christmas is a religious holiday as they get so absorbed in the materialistic aspects of the season that any other thoughts are blown squarely from their mind. I wonder if Bob Geldof could release a Christmas hit about the birth of Jesus, maybe then he'll learn to like Monday's?

My Second Musical Rant: Lady Gag-Aaaargh!

Lady Gaga- A tribute to 10 Things I Hate About You
I hate the way you sing your songs,
and the way you wear your hair.
I hate your 'taste' in fashion my dear,
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your awful dress sense
and your annoying American drawl.
I hate you so much it makes me mad,
it even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you give interviews,
I hate your lack of charm.
I hate the way you look like gonzo,
the one with the very big nose
I hate it when you're in the tabloids,
it's really not news at all.
But mostly I hate the way you make music,
you shouldn't be allowed
not one bit
not at all.

Now Is The Time.

'Now is the time for us to shine'
Now is the time for us to see heaven come to earth. For us to see Jesus in every corner and crevis of this earth. For his love to be so powerful and shine through that people can't help but be astounded and sit in awe at his throne.
As you may have already guessed I am a Christian, It's the one thing about me that effects every single area of my life. I've just recently returned from a week of camping with the most amazing people on earth. It was such an epic week, every single day was new and fresh and exciting to see how God was going to move. The theme for the week was Now Is The Time. Now is the time for us to act upon God's word, for us to work now instead of later. For us to do whatever God wants us, go wherever he calls us and say whatever he speaks to upon us.
It's such an amazing feeling to say 'the creator of the universe is my best friend' He's a best friend who won't abandon me either, he won't fall out with me and he won't argue with me. He is the perfect best friend. He gives me gifts, he helps me when i'm in need and he always, always listens to me. Don't tell me you don't want a best friend like that?
Having a personal relationship with God is the best thing I have ever done with my life. All these other religions claim to know 'the one true God' when the truth is they have no idea. They don't know him! I know my God. 'Our God is an awesome God he reigns from heaven above with wisdom, power and love our God is an awesome God'
If you don't know God, you don't know life.
Love,
Sunny.

Na Roux

I just can't understand why there is such a massive hype about La Roux's debut album. If it's anything like her debut single 'Going in for the Kill' then it's going to be 10 tracks of cats screeching with a drum beat and synth over the top of it.
Don't get me wrong the track she's produced instrumentally is amazing, it's just her singing that I cannot stand. It's very diva like with all the "oooooooh ooooooooh"s and it's really insanely high pitched. I think the main listeners of her album will be Bats and small children. One of my friends said it's the fact that she produces good beats that matters, beats that people will listen to. Are the people listening to it deaf? I'm sure that as a result of listening to her songs deafness will be forced upon people!
La Roux, i am not a fan.

Sweet, sweet relief!

It brings me the greatest pleasure ever to be able to say that i am no longer sitting my GCSE's. I HAVE FINIIIISHHHEDDDD!
The whole of the past two years has been focused on these exams. It's ridiculous that these things are seen to determine the rest of my life, so basically if I fail them I will end up a heroin riddled drug addict with no stable job and no hope at all. Crazy. However I haven't failed them, I am in the safe knowledge that I have achieved at least 5 A-C's and will comfortably get into college (: I'm glad the hype is over and i can now relax until about a week before results day (27th August) when i will start to lose my mind and contemplate every single possible outcome.
I'm sure the ritual of the media reporting that exams are getting easier once the results are out will occur. Has it not crossed their minds that maybe just maybe the teaching standards are improving? Or that the quality of resources is far better than it use to be? Evidently not. They just say it's getting easier, which is amazingly frustrating as us Teenagers work our butts off to achieve good grades. All the stress, tears and sleepless nights are apparently un-needed and the exams are getting easier. Mmmhm and i'm the queen of spain.
I am so looking forward to college. The fact I'll be treated like an actual human being and not just another stereotyped hooligan is something I think I'll get used to quite quickly. I'm taking a set of incredibly challenging and essay based subjects but i welcome a challenge. Politics, Law, English Literature and Modern History. There's no real reason behind me choosing them, I want to go into Written Journalism (which is another reason for the blog) so i figured essay based ones would prove my wicky wow writing skills. I think Politics should be quite good as I'm actually pretty interested in it all and how it works (: 'Citing stuff.
Then there's the parties and the immense socialising, but obviously that's not my main reason for being excited about college. I'm there for the education... (; We get to go to Alton Towers during the first week, i've never been and reckon this is a genius idea to get us newbies to bond. I welcome it with open arms (:

My First Blog.

19:21 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
It's a moment for the baby book when someone writes their very first blog to be posted out into the big wide world.
I thought I'd start off with the topic of Summer seen as my name is Sunny. I love summer and everything related to it; the grass, the weather (even if it's a thunderstorm-which i love), the events and the exciting things i can do that i can't do any other time of year. Sunbathe for instance, that's always fun even though it takes ages for me to tan seen as how I'm roughly the same shade of white as a piece of paper. That is no exaggeration either.
There's things i undergo yearly that only happen during summer, for instance every July i go camping with a load of friends for a hardcore week or worshipping God and having lots of fun. Camping's never fun in the rain, sat in a freezing cold tent with about FIFTY layers on watching the rain come down in torrents and your tent floor slowly becoming flooded with enough water to fill a Dam.
I'm jubilant at the reports of a 'BBQ Summer' this year. The Americans get Indian Summers and the UK get BBQ Summers, I'm noticing a pattern of food related weather reports. Maybe next we'll have a Fruity Summer.
I wonder if a hose pipe ban will be imposed this year in the south. It's always different in the north, we just get Reservoirs that aren't full. As soon as that happens all hell breaks loose and we have a water 'shortage'. Has it never occurred to anyone that our little country is an island and there's PLENTY of water around us? That's just like the British public, to complain about everything. We complain when there's too much water in the form of rain and we complain when there's not enough water because it isn't raining. We're never pleased are we?
I look forward to whatever summer decides to throw my way this year, seen as how i have an extra long 10 week summer it should be full of fun and frolics.
Sunny.
